Known use: Species of the genus Hypoestes are used for chest and heart diseases, gonorrhea, cancer, liver protection and as antipyretic and antiphlogistic. Various biological properties have been attributed to plants of this genus, including antiplasmodial, antifungal, antileishmanial, antitrypanosomal and cytotoxic properties. The plant species is used as piscicidal for fishing by fish farmers in Cross River State of Nigeria.
