Known use: In Northern Nigeria, the leaves, crushed in milk and boiled, are given as a vermifuge against tapeworm. In Kenya, a root decoction or bark infusion are employed against kidney trouble and diarrhoea. It was selected as one of the most promising plants for the treatment of bilharziasis in Zimbabwe because the water extracts of the roots and fruits showed comparable activity to praziquantel.
