Known use: The oleo-gum resin (oleo-resin) exudes from fissures or incisions in the bark and is collected as irregular masses in countries like Somalia, Ethiopia and parts of Kenya. Myrrh is used as an aromatic for perfumes, funerals, and insect repellent. It is also used as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory for the topical treatment of mouth and throat infections, including gingivitis and other gum diseases, tonsillitis and mouth ulcers.
