Known use: The plant species is used in the treatment of gonorrhea, syphilis, eye sores, renal infection, cough, wounds, scalds, toothache, stomachache and kidney stones. An extract of it exhibited a hypertensive effect and has a cardiotonic property. The Kani tribe of Kilamalai, India, uses this plant as a remedy for the bite of a certain species of spider, the tiger spider.
